SKANSKA TO BUILD $78M CAMPUS FOR AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. ??Skanska has signed a contract with American University to build the school?s new $78 million East Campus in Washington, D.C. Skanska will provide construction management services for the six-building campus, which will total approximately 344,445 square feet. The new buildings will seek LEED Gold certification.

Currently a 900-space parking lot, East Campus will include three residence halls that will be home to 590 students. Two additional buildings will accommodate administrative offices and instructional space, while the final building will serve as a welcome center.

The new development is part of the college?s larger strategy for growth and consolidation of its school, according to Greater Greater Washington.

The pre-construction and design for the facility has already begun. The new campus buildings will open for occupancy in the fall of 2016.

American University is a private liberal arts and research university in Washington, D.C. The school?s enrollment includes about 7,200 undergraduate and 5,230 graduate students.?

Skanska USA is a development and construction company based in New York. The company consists of four businesses ? Skanska USA Building, Skanska USA Civil, Skanska Infrastructure Development and Skanska Commercial Development. Skanska USA?s 2012 revenues were approximately $5.7 billion.

Department of Atomic Energy wants to dodge RTI -Nagendar Sharma

After the political parties, now the Department of Atomic Energy has asked the government to keep it out of the Right to Information Act, saying the transparency law is in conflict with its international commitments which require "strict confidentiality."

However, the DAE's demand for immediate exemption from the RTI Act through an official notification is unlikely to be accepted with the law ministry raising a red flag, citing the need for an approval from the parliament on the issue.

The DAE, which functions directly under the Prime Minister and is responsible for the country's nuclear programme, requested the department for personnel and training (DoPT) to add it to the list of organisations exempted from providing information under the RTI.

"The DAE is a scientific organisation having units with foreign collaboration, which were agreed upon to be maintained with strict commercial confidence and respect for intellectual property rights," it stated in its note seeking exemption.

"Disclosures under the RTI would harm competitive position of third parties which agreed to work with us expecting their technical expertise would be protected," the DAE further argued.

The DoPT sought the law ministry's views on its proposal to "place the DAE in the second schedule of the Right To Information Act - alongside 22 other intelligence and security organisations - which gives them a blanket exemption from providing information except for requests related to human rights violations and corruption."

In its opinion, the government's legal arm advised the DoPT to wait for the Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority Bill to be passed by the parliament. It was introduced in the Lok Sabha in September 2011 and the parliamentary standing committee has also given its report on the subject.

Piscopo sponsors collection drive for tornado victims

THOMASTON -- Rep. John Piscopo, R-Thomaston, is sponsoring a collection drive for families affected by the tornado that struck Moore, Okla., in May.

The massive tornado devastated the area with winds that topped 200 miles per hour, destroying or severely damaging everything in its path.

The drive will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nexus Consulting, 200 Birge Park Road, Suite 4, Harwinton. The event is in collaboration with a group of local Harwinton business owners who've been coordinating relief efforts since the tornado struck in May.

Relief groups in Oklahoma have advised that the need is for school supplies for children who will attend schools at alternate sites while their schools are rebuilt. The elementary schools were badly damaged, and, in the case of Plaza Towers, completely destroyed, by the tornado.

Needed donations include pens, pencils, crayons, markers, colored chalk, rulers, backpacks, lunch boxes, balls, bats, gloves, gym socks, shin guards, mouth guards, shorts and T-shirts. Musical instruments are also needed. They do not need to me new, but should be in playable condition.

hola buenas el motivo de la pregunta es el siguiente , trabajo en un despacho de lunes a viernes y los fines de semana de camarero en un restaurante ambos trabajos dado de alta en la seguridad social, este pasado finde he tenido un accidente laboral en el restaurante, por lo cual tuve que acudir a urgencias y me diagnosticaron rotura del 5 metacarpiano de la mano derecha, con el respectivo informe de baja laboral, el lunes acud? a la mutua a entregar el parte de urgencias, y les comente que tengo otro trabajo entre semana, me dijeron que tenia que pedir la baja tambi?n, por lo que mande la misma documentaci?n a la gestor?a del trabajo y me dijeron que ellos se hac?an cargo de mandarlo a su mutua y que les comunicara que me ivan a hacer las revisiones en la mutua del trabajo donde tuve el accidente, la pregunta es, a la hora que cobrar sab?is como funciona? no me an tenido que operar pero estar? de baja un mes aprox. 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Set Photos: Glenn Close Gets Nova Prime Makeover

And you thought Glenn Close looked different in "Albert Nobbs"? Wait until you get a load of her as Nova Prime in "Guardians of the Galaxy"!

The indoors-only production has kept set photos and leaks to a minimum, but all that changed over the weekend. The actress was caught on camera as the film shot on London's Millennium Bridge, which were most likely the film's first scenes not shot on a sound stage. Close is pretty much unrecognizable in her Nova Prime makeup, seen above to the left, and she doesn't look like any established Marvel alien that I can think of. By her side is a Nova Corpsman, all decked out in a version of the armor that debuted back at Marvel's booth at San Diego Comic-Con International.

I have to admit that I'm kinda bummed that Close is hidden behind a ton of makeup. I mean, this had to be cool for her as it's the most complete transformation she's ever undergone (sorry, "Albert Nobbs"! Yes, two "Albert Nobbs" references in one post!), but I really wanted to see Glenn Close in a space cop uniform, barking orders. Close can bring the intensity, but here she looks about as intimidating as Mon Mothma.

I gotta say, the more I see of the Nova uniforms, the more I like them. They contain a bunch of nods to the comics costume?the differing chest insignias, the subtle red star between the eyes?without being a strict adaptation. The modern Nova armor would look too much like an Iron Man variant on the big screen, and the classic look would work about as well as any character's classic look would. This makes the Nova Corps look like a police force, which is what they are.

Let's hope that the cast of "Guardians" well get to play outside more, because we wanna see what they've put on John C. Reilly's mug too!
